Description
We are delighted to welcome Rajesh Chenthy, Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer, to Brussels for a special opportunity to explore the richness of the Kalakshetra tradition.
A Kalakshetra alumnus, Rajesh will share his original choreography, combining the expressive depth of abhinaya with the rhythmic complexity of jathis.
Friday, 6 November | 19:00–22:00
Discovering Rajesh's Choreography — Open Level
Join us for a 3-hour workshop exploring an original composition by Rajesh, bringing together nritta (pure dance) and abhinaya (expressive storytelling).
Depending on the participants' experience, we will work with material from a Kavutuvam or Keerthanam, discovering rhythmic sequences, expressive gestures, musicality, and the relationship between movement and meaning.
Open to different levels! Whether you are an experienced Bharatanatyam dancer or returning to your practice after a break, this workshop offers an opportunity to discover new choreographic material and deepen your understanding of rhythm and expression.
The material will be adapted to the group's experience.
Participation fees:
Single registration: €50
Bring a friend: €80 for two people (€40 each)
Saturday, 7 November | By Arrangement
Private Classes & Advanced Training
For dancers wishing to deepen their practice, Rajesh will also be available on Saturday for individually arranged sessions or mini-group intensives.
Possible formats include:
Private Bharatanatyam classes — personalized coaching in technique, choreography, abhinaya or repertoire.
Advanced choreography intensive — an opportunity for a small group to work more deeply on a Keerthanam or another choreographic item.
Introduction to Nattuvangam — explore the foundations of rhythmic recitation, tala and the art of conducting Bharatanatyam through nattuvangam.
Nattuvangam training for experienced practitioners — focused work on rhythmic structures, jathis and coordination between dance, music and rhythmic accompaniment.
Saturday sessions will be organized upon request, depending on participants' interests, experience and availability. Fees and duration will be agreed separately.
