Join us for an afternoon of movement, music, culture, and connection as we explore the joy, playfulness, and rich heritage of Semba.
More than just a dance class, this event is an invitation to experience the spirit of Semba — a dance deeply rooted in community, creativity, musicality, and human connection. Whether you're completely new to Semba or already have experience, you're warmly invited to learn, dance, and connect with us.
💃 WHAT IS SEMBA?
Originating in Angola, Semba is a vibrant social partner dance known for its playful energy, rhythmic expression, and emphasis on connection. Often considered one of the roots of Kizomba, Semba is a dance of dialogue, inviting dancers to communicate through movement, music, and shared joy.

13:00–14:00
Open Level Semba Workshop
An accessible and welcoming class for beginners, as well as anyone wishing to strengthen their foundations while exploring the essence of Semba.
14:15–15:15
Intermediate Semba Workshop
Designed for dancers with previous experience who want to deepen their musicality, partner connection, and understanding of Semba's dynamic movement.
15:30–17:30
Akusabo Practica
A relaxed social dance space where you can practice what you've learned, connect with fellow dancers, and enjoy the music and community.
🌟 GUEST TEACHER: YVES RAYMOND
We are excited to welcome Yves Raymond for this special afternoon of Semba.
Yves has been teaching Kizomba and Semba for more than ten years and has competed internationally in Kizomba partner dance. Nine years ago, he founded Akusabo in Gothenburg and has since shared the joy and beauty of Semba throughout Sweden and beyond.
His teaching is deeply rooted in the Angolan origins of these dances, while remaining warm, accessible, and adaptable to all experience levels.
