Koreograf Jonathan Burrows og komponist Matteo Fargion har samarbeidet i over 35 år og turnert sammen i 35 land over hele verden. Arbeidene deres er både presise og humoristiske. De springer ut av en felles kjærlighet til musikalske strukturer, som de setter opp mot en leken og anarkistisk tilnærming til scenekunst.
I Hammerfest presenterer de sitt mest sette verk på nettet, The Quiet Dance (2005), en forestilling som stadig utfordrer forholdet mellom det publikum ser og det de hører, gjennom overraskende sammenfall og tilfeldigheter.
Deretter følger deres nyeste verk, The Unison Piece (2025), en undersøkelse og feiring av det å gjøre noe sammen – i samme tid og rytme. Forestillingen fremføres ved bord med to elektriske gitarer.
Varighet: 50 minutter, uten pause.
Burrow & Fargion holder også workshop under festivalen - verkstedet er åpen for alle.
Koreograf Jonathan Burrows og komponist Matteo Fargion har samarbeidet i over 35 år og skapt en internasjonalt anerkjent rekke duetter, blant annet Both Sitting Duet (2002), The Quiet Dance (2005), Speaking Dance (2006), Cheap Lecture og The Cow Piece (2009), Body Not Fit For Purpose (2014), Rewriting (2021) og The Unison Piece (2025).
Fargion har også komponert musikk for en rekke andre scenekunstnere, blant andre Helga Arnalds, Claire Croizé, Siobhan Davies, Mette Edvardsen, Karl Jay Lewin og Andrea Spreafico.
Burrows er forfatter av A Choreographer's Handbook (Routledge, 2010/2025) og Writing Dance (Varamo Press, 2022), og er for tiden førsteamanuensis ved Centre for Dance Research ved Coventry University.

Choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion have collaborated for over 35 years, touring together across 35 countries worldwide. Their work is both rigorous and funny. It has its roots in a shared love of musical form, which they clash against an approach to
performance that is joyfully anarchic. In Hammerfest the two artists will share their most watched piece online The Quiet Dance (2005) which confuses what you see and what you hear in a constantly surprising overlap of coincidences, followed by their most recent work The Unison Piece (2025), an investigation and celebration of doing things together in time, performed at tables with two electric guitars.
