💛 Kiz Fundraising Weekender for Bari 💛
Our dance community is coming together to support one of our own.
Many of you know Bari, but for those who have joined the community more recently, we'd love to share a little about him.
Bari, along with Wimmy, was one of the founders of Dança Kizomba in Wellington and was pivotal in introducing kizomba to New Zealand. Together they played a significant role in growing the Kizomba community nationally by introducing new people to kizomba, sharing their knowledge and inspiring many dancers, teachers and organisers who are part of our community today.
Bari and Wimmy also organised the annual Wellington Spring Weekender; for many of us this was our first experience of a kizomba only festival. It was more than just a dance weekend; it provided an opportunity to connect with the wider New Zealand Kizomba community, meeting dancers from different cities and forming friendships that extended far beyond our local scenes.
Bari has recently been diagnosed with leukemia, and during this challenging time we want to come together as a community to support him in the best way we know how—with dance, connection, and generosity.
Join us for a special Fundraising Weekender from 18–20 September, featuring local artists who are generously donating their time and expertise to help raise funds for Bari.
