HARTBEATS TEACHER, JUSTINE HART
A holiday in Senegal in 1998 to do African drumming just for the fun of it turned into a life changing experience! Keen to play the rhythms I had learnt, I started a community drum circle with friends in High Wycombe. This evolved into formal classes whilst I continued to attend courses and workshops in the UK as well as countless trips back to West Africa. Since 2008 I have been a full time self-employed teacher of West African drumming, running workshops for schools, community groups, team building, parties and festivals. I started an additional evening class in 2003 in Wendover which still continues, to this day, on Wednesdays in Ellesborough. I also organise events every year inviting teachers from West Africa to run workshops and performances.
Alongside my dedication and passion for the drumming, I have always loved dancing and although I do not claim to be a professional level dancer, I have trained with West African dancers throughout all the years of drumming. I want to share what I have learnt so that everyone can experience the joy of dancing these wonderful moves to the fantastic West African djembe and dundun rhythms, plus the added bonus of keeping fit!
If you're interested in booking a workshop for your event, party, school, community organisation or you have any questions about the classes, contact [email protected]
